Making the most of your milestone
When to use this
Friendship milestones work well for birthdays, group chat surprises, or just a random Tuesday when you want someone to matter. Some people generate a card every year on the same date. Others use it once and keep the screenshot. There is no wrong way to do it.
If you have a friend group, try generating one card for the whole crew. Put everyone's names in the name field or use a group nickname. It becomes a shared thing people save and repost.
Long-distance and reconnected friendships
Distance does not change the date. A friendship that started in person and moved online still counts from day one. Use the inside-joke field to note the distance or the way you stay in touch.
If you and a friend lost touch and found each other again, you have two choices. Use the original start date to honor the full history. Or use the reconnect date if that is when things really picked back up. Both are honest. Pick the one that feels right.
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not stress over the exact date if you do not remember it. Pick the first of the month or a date that feels close enough. The milestone is about the friendship, not calendar precision.
Do not skip the inside-joke field just because you think your memory is not funny enough. The small, weird details are what make these cards feel real. "Since you stole my fries in 2017" hits harder than a generic message.
Sharing and saving
Use the Copy button to grab the plain-text version and paste it into a text message, email, or social post. Use Print to get a clean version you can screenshot. The Share link encodes your inputs in the URL so you can send it directly to your friend.
Your last few milestones are saved in this browser. Come back on your next friendship anniversary and generate a fresh card to see how the number grew.
Questions people ask
What if we are not sure of the exact date?
Pick the month and year and use the first of the month. Or choose a meaningful date like the day you first hung out outside of school or work. The milestone still counts.
Can I use this for a friend group?
Yes. Put all the names in the name field, or use a group name like "The Lunch Crew" or "Apartment 4B." The card will say "X years of friendship" for the whole group.
What if we had a gap and reconnected later?
That is common. Use the original start date if you want to honor the full history, or use the reconnect date if that is when the friendship really deepened. Both are valid.
Does this work for long-distance friendships?
Absolutely. The date is the same no matter the distance. You can add a note like "1,200 miles apart, zero miles in heart" in the inside-joke field.
Can I save my card?
Your last few entries are saved in your browser so you can come back. Use the Copy button to save the text anywhere, or Print to get a clean version you can screenshot.
Is this only for best friends?
No. It works for any friendship. A coworker you grab coffee with, a neighbor you wave to every morning, an online friend you have never met in person. If the relationship matters, the milestone counts.
